Karratha Airport (IATA: KTAICAO: YPKA) is an airport in Karratha, Western Australia. The airport is 14 km from Karratha and 8 km from Dampier. The airport was opened in December 1983, and upgraded in 1998. The Karratha Airport is the second busiest Airport in Western Australia with Perth Airport being the busiest. In the year ending 30 June 2009 the airport handled 486 582 passengers nearly 100 000 increase over 2008 and is ranked 18th busiest in Australia. For the year ending June 2010 it was 587,211 passengers.[3] By 2011 it had reached 671,000 passengers, of which the vast majority are fly-in fly-out.[4] Port Hedland International Airport is northeast of this airport.
